Essential Gas Main Replacement High Street Tranent

As you are aware, SGN manages the network that distributes natural and green gas to 5.9 million homes and businesses across Scotland and the south of England. We also provide the gas emergency service in these areas.
We are currently working on a 30-year programme that involves the replacement of old metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.
As part of the overall replacement programme we’re investing £420,000 to upgrade our gas network in the Church Street area of Tranent.
Following consultation with East Lothian Council our project, will begin on Monday 27 January 2020 and last approximately six weeks to complete.
Some road closures and parking suspensions will be in place for the duration of our project.
For the duration of our six-week project, Church Street will be closed between its junctions with Sanderson Wynd and High Street. There will also be no access to Church Street from Sanderson Wynd or Winton Place.
For the first 2-3 weeks of our work, we’ll also have three-way temporary traffic lights in place at the junction with Bridge Street, High Street and Winston Place. We’ll be manually controlling the lights at peak times to ease traffic congestion.
Parking suspensions in surrounding streets will be in place in Bridge Street, Church Street, Winton Place and High Street.
